This watch is not only the best watch I have ever owned, it is the only day time watch that I ever use. I love the 1,3,5,10,20, 30 minute timer found ONLY on this watch. I love it so much that I buy several and change out the band to match different outfits! I do wish that this watch came in a more dressy version. I also hope that Casio continues to make this watch for people who need a timer and a dependable alarm!

This is the "dressy" version of Casio LA11WB-1 there are more reviews for it since many of us have owned this earlier version for 15+ years.

br /The pros:
br /
br /The countdown timer - this is why we love this watch. You push a single button once and a timer is set for 1 minute, each time you press the button, the time increases 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 30 then reset. It's not too terribly loud. I have used this since my kids were babes, through time-outs, and we have X minutes until we leave. I've never had this feature go out on the watch so the button and electronics must be pretty good.

br /The price - I can afford to keep a backup on hand

br /The band - I have actually preferred the metal band and haven't had any trouble with it. I have a very small wrist so it may make a difference having the extra wrap portion underneath. The plastic band on the LA11WB-1 tends to break on me fairly quickly. I do have the LA11WB-1 as my backup in my jewelry box - just in case.

br /Overall - This watch is a little prettier than the plastic band. It still is a little "geeky" but more appropriate for business attire.
br /
br /The cons:
br /
br /No light - Not a good watch for dark areas.
br /
br /As I get older, the little bars across the top that indicate time remaining get harder and harder to see.
br /
br /This is not a watch to pass down to your grandchildren. The other model typically lasts about 1/2 - 2 years. I would assume this watch will be comparable but we'll see after they've been out a couple of years. When the battery goes out, I've had about a 50% success rate of having a replacement battery work. The batteries are a pain to get to, it's hard to find a place that is familiar with this watch, that has the battery, and will replace it. Any other problems that might arise cost far more than the replacement cost.

br /Recommendation: Buy 2 - one of each style so you'll have a backup.

Clasp Somewhat Difficult to Open April 5, 2009

I have the exact opposite issue with the clasp that the below reviewer has -- my clasp snaps shut and stays shut! I have to get a screwdriver to pry it open to remove it because my fingernails are just not strong enough, and I have strong nails. I've been wearing it off-and-on for three months -- maybe it will be easier to open with the passage of time.

br /Also, I don't understand why there would be an impression that the band was expansion-type; the description states that there is a clasp and it is the fold-over type. But maybe they recently changed the description.

br /Otherwise, I agree completely with A. Rogers' review: this is a great watch. With all the timer features, it is indispensible for a mom. Compared to all the other watches out there with all these timer features, this one is NOT clunky-looking at all. I would call it sleek, in fact. Most watches with these features are big, thick, sporty-Ironman-looking watches, but not this one. I wear the version with the plastic band for everyday, and I wear this metallic one for dressier occasions.

br /The only drawback to this watch (aside from the tight clasp which will hopefully loosen a bit) is the fact that it doesn't have a light. I don't know the technology; maybe adding a light would make it thick and clunky since most lighted watches are clunky-looking.

br /As stated, this is a hard-working little watch for everyday use, and it lasts a long time although you won't be passing it along to your grandkids. Buy this watch -- for all the features and the great price, you won't be disappointed.

I have had this watch for about 14+ years. Naturally, the battery has been replaced a few times.

br /Since the band is not expansion, I found an expansion band that looks very nice on the watch. Check Wal-Mart for bands. Sometimes they have them and other times they don't.

br /No, it doesn't have a light. If it did you would need to replace the battery much more often so that is not a feature I look for.

br /Both Energizer and Maxell make battery #365 that is a perfect replacement for the 1116 that is VERY hard to find anymore. Other brands may also have this #365.

br /My wrist is rather small so this watch is an ideal sized digital for me.

Love this watch. It's hard to find a non-sport watch with a digital display, not to mention one with an adjustable strap. The strap might be a challenge to adjust if you're not familiar with the type, but the clasp is sturdy - it's never fallen off once. The only con is that it doesn't have a light-up display.
